Meet Ray, the NC Summer Nutrition Programs Mascot
Meet Ray F. Sun, the official mascot for the NC Summer Nutrition Programs! (The “F.” stands for food, fitness, fun, and farm to summer!)
Ray’s mission is to spread fun in the sun and make sure everyone knows about free summer meals for kids and teens across North Carolina. Ray appears across the state at meal sites and other events, so make sure to find a site near you and keep an eye out for them.
Ray was born in 2017 as part of a contest for students across NC to create new artwork to help increase the visibility of Summer Nutrition Programs. A group of students from Corinth Holders High School in Johnston County submitted the design. Ray made their public debut in person at the 2018 NC Child Hunger Leaders Conference, in February 2018.
